Dissecting Ai car slop
When my friend posted this to Facebook, he meant no harm. He just wanted a cool photo for his background. He had no idea that this photo would absolutely destroy me for the next hour. I am dying. The more I look at this thing, the more I find. It’s like one of those kids photos

People keep telling me that “AI” has gotten so very good. No! No, it hasn’t. I’m going to come back to the car, because that is all kinds of wrong… but first…
The first thing I noticed was the house behind it. This house absolutely broke my brain
We have a two car garage but the pavement does not connect. There is lawn going over at least 1/3 of the doorway. Plus the two garages are clearly different sizes. I guess one of the cars is way bigger than the other?
And what is going on with this doorway? I mean, it’s maybe a door. It looks like there might be a door? And there is no walkway to the door and no stairs up to the door. Do people just not go inside? Maybe they can’t leave?
What is up with the windows. We’ve got two sets that are shaped the same with the same frame shape, a main one with a different frame shape, and I’m really curious about the garage adjacent window. No real world designer would have three different window styles on the front of what is clearly a very expensive house with many rooms. It just isn’t clear what those rooms are or how they are used
“AI” doesn’t live in the real world. It has no comprehension of what a house really looks like or what makes sense to actually live in.
Then, there is this car. I have questions. How exactly does that convertible top attach? What even is that rear view mirror? What the hell is happening to your wheels man? Is it hot - are your wheels melting?
Then you’ll notice above the weirdly melted wheels the “350” with the Camaro logo.
THIS is a Camaro 350. Notice the completely different body lines. The “AI” photo is not of a Camaro. It also clearly says “Malibu” on the back
In the last hour of my life, I have looked at way too many photos of one of my favorite cars of all time. I love, love, love the 1964 Chevy Malibu. They all say “Chevelle” on them. They mostly have this style wheel or very similar 60s era wheels, not the modern spinners of 2000’s Hip Hop. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good modded, hip hop wheel and the lowrider culture with the hand painted designs. But “AI” wasn’t trying to go for that. It just scrapped some nonsense out of it’s training data with no care toward historic representation.
Also, I’m an absolute dork and the actual first thought in my head was …that’s the wrong red… After having spent too much time looking at old photos of cars, I think I’m right. The red in the Slop Photo is Rally Red and it wasn’t an available paint code for the Malibu at that time.
Last, but not least, this stupid flag was driving me nuts. It’s just so very square copy pasted awkward flag dropped on the flag pole. This is not how flags work. It’s not how they look. Even if someone doesn’t realize that a “350” doesn’t belong on a Malibu or ignores the monstrosity that is that house - this flag is an abomination
I did not expect as I was scrolling Facebook to spend the next few hours dying from laughter and obsessing over 1960s Chevy Convertibles, but here we are. I hate “AI” and I hate Slop and I want all of this to go away. Nobody benefits from a fake neighborhood with a impossible house and a car that never was below a fake sunset sky. This brings no real good to the world. We never needed more “photos” - we need more real art by real artists who know what a car and a house and a flag look like
