RED bRIDGE - COZY CAMP

I had dreams of a cozy camp. I was so worried I wasn’t going to pull it off. This was my first time using this tarp and I won’t say I have no idea what I was doing - but I definitely was winging it. The rain started just as I was finishing up the setup but it worked perfectly.

I started this trip by heading to Big Four Ice Caves.

I usually do this hike as a winter “snowshoe.” But it’s a beautiful location and a nice chill hike. This little day off getaway was supposed to be chill. No backpacking uphill. No epic climbs. No exhaustion. Just nature

Then I backtracked to Red Bridge Campground. It is truly a classic Pacific Northwest spot. Eagles fishing. Ravens woke me up in the morning. There’s a rocky river and a cute bridge. It’s perfect.

This all worked. I stayed completely dry and absolutely cozy. I never got cold - rather when I did I just grabbed a hoodie or a blanket. Slept to the sound of rain on the tent. Woke up to Ravens and Bald Eagles calls

I don’t know if this will be my last camp of the year. We are definitely hitting the end of the season. It gets dark too early, the nights get too cold and the wind will ruin your whole setup. I hope I can tuck one or two last trips in before next year, but if not - this was actually perfect.
