Rattlesnake Ledge

Sometimes you see a place differently through someone else’s eyes. I must have done this hike over a hundred times, without exaggeration. My kid and I did it so many times, I’ve taken several friends over the years, but mostly it’s been a standard training run up. It is a simple 1150 ft gain over 2mi. This hike is super busy, super popular, and you reading this may very well have taken it yourself.

Today, my friend coming back from health issues really saw this hike as an awesome thing. It’s possible. She did it. And the views from the top are underrated.

I was musing on the way home that any day really can be our last. A random accident on the drive home. A random bit of space debris falls from the sky. An undiagonized blood clot or heart failure. If I went tomorrow, if I didn’t come back from a hike, I know that my obituary would say that I never said no to an adventure.

My friends - both those I know and those I’ve never yet met - please don’t say no to adventure. I hope to see you on trail.

Until then, enjoy this video ❤
